Jessie J is definitely making her voice heard in the U.S. Following the runaway success of her comeback single "Bang Bang"alongside Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, the UK songstress is ready to set airwaves ablaze once more with official Sweet Talker second single, "Burnin' Up" featuring 2 Chainz. The hot, seductive pop track has hit potential written all of it as it does not play around and does right by highlighting Jessie's powerhouse vocals.
Her last full effort may have unfortunately gotten swept under the rug too quickly when released last year, but the talented artist is making her presence known with her jazz-influenced pop music. Jessie J brings fire, fierceness and confidence on the dance-heavy single which should get more people excited for her upcoming album. Just like "Bang Bang", the new track is an intriguing piece that should stand out from the rest of the crowd.
"Burnin' Up" opens up with some 80's western sounding production (is that even a thing?) before Jessie J comes out of the door swinging with a glorious, hard-hitting performance that remains top notch throughout the nearly four minute track. In between heavy breathes, Jessie is able to belt seductive, red hot lyrics of "the way we're moving by the end of the song, they're gonna have to pull the fire alarm" on the fast-paced verses. However, it's the thumping chorus that really has this new effort sizzling. Screaming for that radio airplay. YAAAAAS!
Jessie J is an extremely underrated artist already with a remarkable catalog including gems such as "Nobody's Perfect", "Who You Are" and "Thunder", but it seems like she has found the right balance of vocal power and catchiness with "Burnin' Up", the added rap verse from 2 Chainz only boosts its marketability and crossover potential. While a straightforward pop song, there are noticeable influences from other genres layered upon each other. It seems like Jessie J has another sure-fire smash on her hands.
