Senators Offered $50,000 Each To Impeach Saraki – Senator Alleges

 Embattled Senate President, Bukola Saraki
A report on Daily Independent today claims that some senators has been offered $50,000 to ensure they impeach senate president, Bukola Saraki.

Quoting a ranking senator who chose to be anonymous, the newspaper said some top chieftains of the party have already hatched the plot to ensure Saraki is ousted soon.

Also, a financial war-chest is said to have being deployed for the project tagged  “Saraki Must Go.” A dependable source in the party, close to the National Assembly also confirmed that the senators are now being wooed with the cash to remove Saraki office at all cost.

According to the source, some senators were called to a meeting on Sunday afternoon in the private residence of a top politician in the APC in Asokoro, Abuja, where  the plot was properly planned.

Two senators, one each from the South west and North central were also reportedly appointed as arrowheads, while a senator was picked from each zone to woo more senators into the project in order to get the mandatory two-thirds majority required for the impeachment process.

Another source claimed 25 senators attended the Sunday meeting where the issued was deliberated upon.

Recall that Saraki finally showed up at the Code of Conduct Tribunal earlier today after initially contesting the decision of the tribunal to summon him in court.

The CCT had ordered Solomon Arase, the Inspector General of Police, and other related security agencies in ‎the country to arrest Saraki following his absence at the beginning of his trial over alleged false declaration of assets before Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) in 2003.

The CCB had filed a 13-count corruption charge against Saraki for failing to declare his assets fully, alleged misuse of the state funds for purchasing private assets while serving as Kwara state governor and others. In reaction, the Senate president had described the 13 count corruption charge as frivolous.

Timi Frank, APC deputy national publicity secretary, wrote an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari over Saraki’s ordeal, calling on him to intervene before a political crisis erupts in the ruling party.
